METADUO

Specially designed to collect oblique images for the generation of high resolution and high accuracy 3D textured photomesh.

The METADUO is a game changing aerial mapping camera and optional LiDAR system specially designed to collect oblique images. This breakthrough aerial mapping camera system, which only requires two cameras to collect images, is designed to replace the traditional, more expensive five camera oblique system such as our own MIDAS. The METADUO is modular and accommodates a variety of system configurations. Collect more useful data to be processed in less time, and obtain quality 3D mapping at a competative price.

Features

Two Camera Oblique System

The two-camera oblique system can be had at a fraction of the cost compared to traditional five camera oblique systems. The METADUO significantly saves space due to its extremely compact, modular design, and can be paired with a suitable LiDAR to increase the quality and accuracy of a 3D textured photomesh. Remarkable results can be achieved by utilizing Skyline’s powerful 3D PhotoMesh Software, and proven inertial technologies offered by Applanix. Additionally, by supplementing the METADUO system with a RIEGL LiDAR, the results and quality of the PhotoMesh products are refined and enhancedbetter than what can currently be achieved with a regular five camera oblique system.

State of the Art Stabilization

placeholder

Lead'Air has also developed a state-of-the-art stabilization system which allows a RIEGL LiDAR and two medium format oblique cameras to be fully stabilized and to operate together as one payload. The RIEGL VQ780 series as well as other RIEGL LiDAR models can be integrated with the METADUO system to create a superior 3D data collection device. If your LiDAR unit is underutilized or not effectively used, upgrading to Lead'Air METADUO + LiDAR configuration will allow you to increase its productivity and to take advantage of the fast growing 3D imagery market (insurance, roofing, city planning, emergency response, Internet mappers, etc. and of course the all new promising Metaverse). If you are considering purchasing a new VQ-780 LiDAR from RIEGL, you should consider including the METADUO option which would increase the range of missions that your LiDAR can perform.

Photomesh and LiDAR Data

Since LiDAR has less noise-to-signal ratio than image-based correlation, mesh geometry is significantly improved. This results smoother and cleaner roads, facades, and other planar surfaces. LiDAR helps in areas that are very homogenous and don't have a lot of texture to produce image correlation points such as: wide roadways with no markings, white rooftops, repetitive vegetation like crops or grass, etc. LiDAR also improves the ability to get into tight angles in urban areas, due to the fact that LiDAR only needs a single ray to reach the bottom of a building or the inside of an alley in order to create accurate measurements, whereas with image correlation alone, two images with enough angular disparity are required to reach a feature and correlate depth in that point. LiDAR enhances street level data with ability to provide points underneath vegetation and separate trees that grow close to buildings. LiDAR improves fine details of complicated features such as scaffolding, tops of towers, draw bridges, cranes, etc. Most importantly, LiDAR provides a geographic control to achieve a high level of absolute accuracy in the final 3D mesh and additional geospatial products.
